Life's a beach

It takes about 20 minutes to get to the beach at Castelldefels from home, so Miriam had the great idea to take some time out while the weather is good and head for the beach during the week. Sounds like a great idea, doesn’t it? Unfortunately the weather this week wasn’t up to it.

Today though was a different matter; the sun shone, the sky was blue and so at around midday we set off for the beach. We swam for a bit, dried off under the warmth of the sun and I dozed off. Miriam went in for another swim, I sleepily stumbled towards the water  also managed another swim. Drying off afterwards, me 90% asleep, the clouds blocked the sun and we headed home at about 3 p.m.

After lunch I had my regular shot of espresso and slumped in front of the computer. I just couldn’t get down to work, so I went and lay down – and slept deeply for an hour and eventually at around 5.30 I managed to restart work.

Heading for the beach while everyone is working sounds great in theory. The problem is how to kick-start myself back into consciousness afterwards. If anyone has good advice that doesn’t involve illegal stimulants then let me know, otherwise I’ll just have to get up a bit earlier and go to the beach a bit later and forget all about working in the afternoon.

PS I was so sleepy I have been unable to talk properly all afternoon – “a sandfull of face” was the first of an afternoon of absurdities.
