An experiment in getting indexed – does Traffic Bug really work?
I’ve been testing a number of ways to get content indexed recently, including the use of Traffic Bug.
Now, the way that Traffic Bug works is to submit your content to a ton of aggregated social bookmarking sites, as well as – if you select the options – to submit it to ping services and direct to search engines. You won’t find the links showing up all over the place, but if Google follows one of those links to your site then your content gets indexed.
Sounds all very well in theory, but does it work.
Well, I set up a number of orphan pages and tried to get then indexed – I’m not looking at how high they rank, just that Google spiders them – and the results are staggering. Out of 9 different experiments, just one of them yielded a result. And that result did not come from Traffic Bug.
I’m going to give the experiment more time as it has been running a week now, but I’ve been surprised. If Traffic Bug really doesn’t work, then I’m afraid its going to be given the boot.
