Penguin Analysis: SEO Isn’t Dead, But You Need to Act Smarter [Microsite Masters]
May 4, 2012 5:54 pmLast week Google unleashed an “over-optimization” or “anti-webspam” update to the algo, wiping out a huge number of websites by knocking them off the top spots. Yes, a number of my websites have been hit hard, but not all. There is an interesting article on Microsite Masters that analyses sites that were hit versus sites that were not that is worth reading, which comes to this conclusion:
Google is trying to replace or devalue “anchor text” use with “niche/content relevancy of linking sites” as a primary link relevancy, (or “quality”) signal.
Obviously it will take some time to see it that is really true, but the article is definitely worth reading to see what stats they came up with as they may give you an idea on what you need to do to get your rankings back.
