30 day challenge case study – day 2

November 13th, 2009 · No Comments

Yesterday I started a project following the 30 day challenge methodology, although the numbers from Market Samurai are way off those recommended. However, even though it has loads of competition, I know that most of that is just junk – I rank at #3 and #4 as I said yesterday, but I also rank at #6 via squidoo and #10 via another of my websites. And then #14 via a 60 minute backlinks site and #20 from a Revver video.

What I don’t have are #1 and #2, which I want to take in my plan to dominate the niche – and it’s really, really tiny, but profitable. I think by taking the #1 position I’ll boost monthly earnings by $300-$400 and with Christmas coming up, perhaps $1,500-$2,000 during December.

Even if I don’t take the #1 position, I’d like to knock out the double listing of the #1 competitor and take the #2 spot.

This morning I did the following:

  • Chose a template and installed WordPress using WordPress Direct – 10 minutes.
  • Wrote the homepage content for the first post – 20 minutes
  • Changed the header graphic – 47 minutes, including photography and image manipulation
  • First post added including photo of product being promoted and affiliate link – 10 minutes
  • Added sidebar offer and edited sidebar to remove elements I don’t want – 17 minutes
  • Added site to traffic bug – 6 minutes

Total time: 110 minutes

Total cost: $15 for domain – I already have web space and WordPress Direct.

OK, that’s it for today probably. I still need to do the following though:

  • Write content for Ezinearticles and Articlesbase and submit to Traffic Bug
  • Write some additional articles for the website and drip feed every 2 days
  • Measure results
  • Add articles to other Web 2.0 properties

Probabaly I will do some work on this tomorrow, otherwise back on Monday.
