WordPress 2.3 update – failed

I updated my WordPress install to 2.3 earlier today, but it didn’t work well at all and so I’m back to whichever version I was on before. I see that quite a number of people have experienced a similar problem with a database error and will wait for the dust to settle a bit until I retry.

    I’ve had no problems (although I certainly expected some, due to making the mistake of actually installing my initial WP 2.2 with Fantastico) with the 2.3 update.

    …the update brought nothing cool 🙁

    The biggest impact is when you have plugins or supporting utility software that directly accessed the Category tables. Those WP tables are now gone, replaced with a completely different database architecture.

    I had to postpone my upgrades until I can find time to upgrade my own custom written plugins.
